Top Sustainable Swaps of 2020

Top Sustainable Swaps of 2020

For many folks, 2020 is already in the rear view mirror, but I am still in reflection mode. I wanted to share some of the top sustainable swaps I made in 2020.

Products I Purchased to Reduce Waste

  • Reusable Make Up Removing Cloths
  • Reusable Cotton Rounds
  • THINX period underwear
  • Dryer balls to replace dryer sheets
  • Hand and dish soap dispensers to reduce plastic usage

Actions I took to Support Sustainability

  • Participated in a CSA
  • Stopped supporting ‘fast fashion’ + made more discerning purchases
  • Started using Cowash to reduce the frequency of washing my hair + to replace shampoo, conditioner and shaving cream
  • New storm doors for home & sealed basement windows to prevent heat loss
  • Purchased energy efficient appliances & lights for our home

For me, financial freedom and sustainability go hand in hand. I’m working on reducing my expenses in many ways and often times these choices can have a positive impact on the environment as well. Additionally, I aim to lead a life with less – less wants, less stuff, less stress!  With that, I want to reduce my environmental footprint.

To that end, I wanted to share my sustainable swaps of 2020.  For 2021, I’m committed to start composting.  What sustainable swaps are you contemplating for the upcoming year?
